What's Unique
Distilling on this Glenn's Creek site began when Elijah Pepper arrived in 1797 and built a formal distillery by 1812. Dr. James Crow — credited with inventing the sour mash process — worked here under Oscar Pepper from 1835. The stone structures on the National Register of Historic Places have been in continuous use longer than nearly any other American distillery. Brown-Forman purchased the site in 1994, restored it, and launched Woodford Reserve in 1996. The distillery is one of only a few in the US to use copper pot stills alongside column stills for triple distillation.
