Jack Daniel's Distillery

Registered in 1866 as the nation's oldest registered distillery. Located in Lynchburg in Moore County (formerly Lincoln County — giving the Lincoln County Process its name). Jack Daniel chose its location specifically for Cave Spring Hollow, which produces constant 56°F iron-free spring water essential to the recipe. The Lincoln County Process filters every drop of new spirit through 10 feet of sugar maple charcoal before barreling, legally classifying the product as Tennessee Whiskey rather than bourbon. Located in a dry county — Moore County — that prohibits retail alcohol sales (though samples at the distillery are now permitted).
