Castle & Key Distillery

Housed in the restored Old Taylor Distillery, which E.H. Taylor Jr. built in 1887 as a showpiece Victorian distillery with a castle-like stone architecture, a sunken garden, and a spring house. The property sat abandoned for decades until purchased and restored starting in 2014. The distillery opened to visitors in September 2018. One of the few Kentucky distilleries sourcing heirloom white corn and white wheat (from Walnut Grove Farms) specifically to differentiate flavor from commodity grain. Known for an unusually high malted barley percentage (17%) that sets it apart from most Kentucky mashbills.
