What's Unique

Located on a 500-acre former dairy farm in Shoreham, Vermont, WhistlePig is the premier American rye whiskey producer. Approximately 300 of those acres are dedicated to growing rye grain, with the goal of producing increasingly estate-grown whiskey. Raj Bhakta purchased the land in 2007, and the brand's first product -- a 10-year rye sourced from MGP in Indiana and Alberta Distillers in Canada -- launched to critical acclaim in 2010. Master Distiller Dave Pickerell (formerly of Maker's Mark) played a key early role before his passing in 2018. The distillery now produces its own Vermont Estate rye, and also opened a visitor outpost on the Kentucky Bourbon Trail called the WhistlePig Whiskey Vault.
