Stranahan's Colorado Whiskey

The first Colorado distillery post-Prohibition and an early pioneer of American craft whiskey, founded in 2004 by Jess Graber (firefighter) and George Stranahan (Flying Dog Brewery founder) after they met fighting a fire at Stranahan's barn. An American single malt made entirely from malted barley — 90% Colorado-sourced — rather than corn, making it atypical among American whiskeys. The use of a blend of light and dark roasted malts (borrowed from craft brewing tradition) distinguishes its flavor profile from both Scotch single malts and Kentucky bourbon. Acquired by Proximo Spirits in 2010.
