Prichard's Distillery

Tennessee's first new distillery in nearly 50 years when it received its license in 1997 and opened in 1999 in a historic 1939 schoolhouse in Kelso. Founded by Phil Prichard, who traces his family's distilling tradition back to 1822. Prichard's is significant in Tennessee whiskey history because it holds a legal exemption from the Lincoln County Process -- the only Tennessee whiskey brand that can bypass the sugar maple charcoal filtering requirement. This exemption was grandfathered in when the state codified the Lincoln County Process in law. Produces Tennessee Whiskey, bourbon, rums, and a range of flavored spirits using traditional copper pot stills.
