George Dickel Distillery (Cascade Hollow)

Tennessee's second distillery, with roots in the Cascade Hollow location dating to the 1870s when George A. Dickel & Company began selling whisky from this site. The modern distillery was rebuilt and the first mash produced on July 4, 1959. George Dickel insists on spelling the product 'whisky' (without an 'e'), following the Scotch tradition and Dickel's belief it was the world's finest. Unique among Tennessee whiskey producers for chilling the whiskey before charcoal filtering — claiming this produces a smoother result. Uses a higher corn percentage (84%) than Jack Daniel's.
