Frey Ranch Estate Distillery

One of the world's few true estate distilleries, growing 100% of its whiskey grains -- corn, wheat, rye, and barley -- on the Frey family's working farm in the high desert of Fallon, Nevada. The Frey family has farmed here since 1854, and fifth-generation farmers Colby and Ashley Frey opened the distillery in 2006. The farm uses Sierra Nevada snowmelt for irrigation, and the desert climate with extreme temperature swings (from below zero to above 100 degrees F) creates aggressive barrel aging. Frey Ranch's grain-to-glass approach produces bourbon, rye, and a four-grain straight whiskey, all from estate-grown ingredients.
