A. Smith Bowman Distillery was founded in 1934 by Abram Smith Bowman the day after Prohibition ended, originally on a 7,200-acre farm in Fairfax County, Virginia, making it Virginia's oldest operating distillery. It relocated in 1988 to Spotsylvania County near Fredericksburg, where it produces Virginia bourbon and whiskey including the acclaimed John J. Bowman and Abraham Bowman lines.
