Distillery 291 was founded on September 11, 2011, by Michael Myers, a former New York City fashion photographer who relocated to Colorado Springs. The distillery produces award-winning small-batch Colorado bourbons and rye whiskeys using locally sourced grains and Rocky Mountain water, with a distinctive aspen stave finishing technique.
