Nearest Green Distillery

The world's first distillery dedicated to an African American master distiller, Nathan 'Nearest' Green, who taught Jack Daniel the art of whiskey-making in the 1850s-1860s. The 323-acre campus in Shelbyville, TN opened its first phase on September 14, 2019, built on the historic farm property where Green is believed to have distilled. Founded by Fawn Weaver, Uncle Nearest has become the most awarded American whiskey brand. The distillery produces Tennessee whiskey using the Lincoln County Process (charcoal mellowing). The campus includes multiple tasting rooms, a barrel house, event space, and the Nearest Green Memorial Park.
