One of the highest-altitude distilleries in the world at 9,600 feet elevation in the Colorado Rocky Mountains. The high altitude affects fermentation and distillation -- lower atmospheric pressure changes boiling points and the thin, dry mountain air accelerates the angel's share. Founded in 2008, Breckenridge Distillery produces a blended bourbon that has won multiple awards. The facility includes a restaurant and tasting room with panoramic mountain views, making it a popular destination for both whiskey enthusiasts and ski tourists. The distillery initially blended its own Colorado-distilled whiskey with sourced bourbon and has increasingly moved toward all-Colorado production.
